Corozal Hospital Chief of Staff

Dr. Nelson Marin is a native of Corozal and graduated from Corozal Community College in 1999. He was immediately accepted into medical school at the University of Montemorelos in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He graduated as Valedictorian of his class in 2004. He worked in Monterrey, Mexico for the next 3 years at a private clinic where he was Chief of Staff, also working in the emergency room and the out-patient clinic.

In June of 2008, Dr. Marin became part of the the Chetumal Secretaria de Salud medical team. He worked at the health clinic at the Santa Elena border, but was then moved to the main offices and put in charge of the Reproductive Health Program for all of Othon P. Blanco, with 70 health centers under his supervision.

Then the opportunity came for Dr. Marin to become a part of the working team at the Corozal Community Hospital as a medical practitioner. The position of Chief of Staff was available, and having had four years of experience in management, he qualified for and was given the position of Chief of Staff, a challenge which he has accepted.

Dr. Marin says he is giving his all to improve the health services available to the people of Corozal. He wants to make a difference in his country. He says it is beautiful to return home and try to contribute to the prosperity and well being of the town that saw him grow up.

He says that it was not easy to go away to a different country, not knowing what to expect. But with the support of a loving family, the advice of good friends, and trusting God's infinite wisdom he finds himself with many goals reached and others to now work on.
