Summer Camp for Kids

Corozal football veteran R. Pablo Barahona was out every week-day afternoon from 2 to 4 pm helping kids learn the basics of football. These activities were not just for kicking the ball around, but for learning the basics of football, how to kick, stop, and pass the ball, among others. Physical training was also involved, including special exercises.

Mr. Barahona said Hon. Pablo Marin sponsored the camp, and they are hoping to get the schools involved when classes start. Hopefully there will be students from a different school each morning and afternoon coming out for training that is being offered. That could involve 10 different primary schools a week.

They are hoping this will be the beginning of building skilled football players in Corozal who can compete nationally. When Mr. Barahona played for the La Victoria team from Corozal in the past, they were national champions twice. Additionally they are hoping to provide incentives for kids who may be able to earn scholarships to attend high school.

Here are some shots of the activities.
